Tasks come into play with final-mile deliveries that include items and services.

Example

A customer orders a washing machine:

  • The machine is an item.
  • The installation of the machine is a service.

D365 Finance and Supply Chain Management allows you to enter items (e.g., lumber, washer, dryer, bicycle) and services (e.g., on-site installation or construction) on a sales order.

When that sales order crosses into Transport + Deliver as a logistics order, those service items become tasks that you can view, create, and mark as complete.

You can also complete tasks from the Deliver Mobile App.
