Pricing Matrix
Value Added Billing > Setup > Price Book > Pricing Matrix
The Pricing Matrix allows you to determine a price from multiple variables.
This assigns a price for an individual transaction. These prices are summed together to provide the final price for the pricing detail.
Header
Turn on the Use Default Price toggle to display the Default Price and Currency fields, which are both required.
When Use Default Price is enabled and no match is found for an individual transaction in the Pricing Matrix Details table, the default price is applied.
Note
Values in the Pricing Matrix Details table are not validated and must match the data being populated in the Transaction Detail form.
Pricing Matrix Setup
Click Pricing Matrix Setup to define the fields and columns for the pricing matrix. Fields created here appear on the Pricing Matrix.
These fields relate back to the Transaction Detail form. Each field to be evaluated must have a description assigned to it.
When a price book is processed for a detail containing a pricing matrix, each field defined on this form is evaluated for a match between the pricing matrix and the transaction detail.
It is possible to have multiple matches in the pricing matrix based on configuration and the data in the pricing matrix. In this case, the first match will be added to the sum.
Important
It is highly encouraged to configure the pricing matrix to result in only one match.
Relational Operator
A relational operator is required for each column on the Pricing Matrix Setup page.
This allows for additional flexibility in how pricing matrix records are configured.
Example
If a charge is to be applied when the Quantity field is > X, the ">" relational operator can be specified.
You can manually adjust the price of the matrix line or adjust it by a value or percentage. Once the Adjust By and the Value fields have been selected, click Adjust to populate the new price for all displayed records.
You can filter the columns and limit which records are adjusted.
Once all records have been verified, click Update Price Matrix to adjust the price matrix lines.
Note
Unlike the Price Book Maintenance form, matrix lines do not have effective dates; these prices are overwritten with the new price.
Click Price Matrix Association to open a form that allows you to identify which price book and price detail a given price matrix is assigned.
In addition, you can view which output documents will be created for the associated accounts.
You can easily copy a price matrix.
Click Copy Price Matrix to open a flyout window with fields for the new pricing matrix ID and description.
Pricing Matrix Assignment
On the Pricing Details form, select Pricing Matrix in the Summarize field to replace the Pricing section with the Pricing Matrix section.
This allows multiple price books to share the same pricing matrix. In addition, it enables effective dates for multiple pricing matrices, given that their effective dates do not overlap.
The Adjust by Percent field allows pricing matrix calculations to be adjusted up/down by a percentage.
This allows for a more standardized pricing matrix setup, with adjustments up/down for customer agreements.
