Pre-Plan Sales Order

Pre-plan functionality allows you to plan orders before they are fully reserved. Then, when the Release to Warehouse process runs, the logistics order is updated to match the sales order.

This benefits warehouses that need to plan for the requested transportation in advance of having an order reserved or knowing the full inventory requirements.

Configuration

Operation Parameters

Logistics Execution > Setup > Operation Parameters

Turn on the Sales Order Pre-Planning Enabled toggle on the Pre-Planned Sales Orders tab.

Set your default logistics order and handling unit types and statuses for pre-planned sales orders.

All Logistics Orders

Logistics Execution > Common > All Logistics Orders > select a logistics order

Personalize the page (Options > Personalize > Personalize this page) to add pre-planning options:

  • Pre-Planned Status: Displays the status of the pre-planned logistics order: None, Planned, or Synced.

  • Pre-Planned?: Indicates whether a logistics order was planned without a shipment. This toggle is turned on if the associated logistics order was created using the Pre-Plan Sales Order button from the sales order.

Functionality

Sales Order

Accounts receivable > Orders > All sales orders > select an order

Click Pre-Plan Sales Order on the Logistics Execution tab to create a logistics order in the operation according to the carrier chosen for the logistics order.

Release to Warehouse

After planning has taken place, inventory has come in, and the Release to Warehouse process is completed (manually or through the batch job), the system checks if a logistics order has already been created using pre-plan functionality.

  • No pre-planned logistics orders: Run the Release to Warehouse process as normal.
  • Pre-planned logistics orders: Connect the existing logistics order to the newly created shipment. Update the logistics order fields with the sales order/shipment data so the two entities match.
