Labels can be generated for Handling Units if needed within a facility. There are two primary setups involved for labels – Label Layouts and Label Routing. Label Layouts are where the individual label layouts are defined with the appropriate printer codes (usually ZPL) and the field tags to insert the appropriate dynamic data into the label format. Label Routing is used to cross-reference specific situations with which label format and printer to print to.
Logistics Execution > Setup > Labeling > Label Layout
To configure a Label Layout, assign a Label Id and then write the label printer code in the box on the right-hand side (usually ZPL). Raw printer code is placed in the box as well as text labels for dynamic AXLE data. In the screen shot below, the UnitID is represented by $UnitID$. When the label is printed, AXLE will substitute the actual Unit ID in place of the text label.
To insert additional text labels, select the field in the list and press 'Insert at the end of text'. The appropriate text label will appear at the end of the current text in the box. The user can then cut/paste the text label in the appropriate place within the label code.

Logistics Execution > Setup > Labeling > Label Routing
When a label is requested, AXLE will go to the Label Routing table to determine what format to print and what printer to send the label to. Label Routing records have a sequence and the label printing logic will work through the sequences in order until it finds a match to the current data being processed.

The label printing logic will compare the data for the label being requested to the data shown in the 'General' tab (shown above). At a minimum, the Facility ID must be specified. Additionally fields like Worker, Customer Account and different Logistics Types can be specified to be more specific. For example, if a specific worker has a different printer (or format), Worker can be specified on the record and the assignment logic will route the label to the specified printer using the specified format (again, the assignment logic works in sequence order and will process the first sequence that matches the criteria specified).
To print a label, a user can press 'Print Label' from the Handling Units section of the Logistics Order:
