Actions and activity masters play a significant role in executing logistics through Transport + Deliver.
Actions
Logistics Execution > Setup > Activities & Actions > Actions
Actions assist the user in processing logistics orders and activities from start to finish.
Even though an operation can contain any number of actions, there are a few action types that are standard across all operations:
- Start: This action starts the activity. A start/begin action is required for all activities.
- End: This action ends the activity. An end/complete action is required for all activities.
- Transfer: This action causes inventory to be moved from one location to another (i.e., from a dock location to an asset or stop). Includes load and unload actions.
- Arrive: This action marks the activity as having arrived a stop.
- Depart: This action marks the activity as having departed a stop.
Actions must be enabled on the user's worker operation profile to be used in the Deliver app.
Most workers do not need access to all actions. However, an administrator profile likely needs access to all actions.
Example
A worker with a Driver profile does not need to the same actions as a worker with a Dock Worker profile.
See Actions for more detailed information.
Activity Masters
Logistics Execution > Setup > Activities & Actions > Activity Masters
Actions are grouped together to form templates that define which actions can be utilized on an activity. These templates are called activity masters.
Similar to actions, operations can create any number of activity masters to suit their business needs.
Example
One operation may only need a template to execute deliveries. Another operation may need a template to execute dock work.
Activity masters can contain actions that are not visible on the Deliver app.
Example
A Flush Inventory action would not be visible on the mobile app because this happens in D365 and would not be executed by a driver.
However, an Unload action would be visible because this moves the inventory from the asset to the delivery location.
See Activity Masters for more detailed information.
