You can set up carrier customer accounts if you need to bill shipments to a third-party based on the carrier used.

You can view and edit these account numbers from the customer or from the sales order.

Note

Individual orders can be edited to bill to a different third party, as needed.

Customer

You can view and/or edit the Carrier customer account number in two places on the customer:

 Account Level

Account Level

Sales and marketing > Customers > All customers

Click the Carrier customer accounts button on the General tab of the All Customers form to configure third-party account numbers for each shipping carrier.

The account-level list displays all configured customer accounts.

Enter the third-party account number in the Carrier customer account number field to tell the system which account number to charge when shipping with the specified carrier.

You can set up more than one delivery address per customer per carrier.

You can also have an account with a blank delivery location.

You can then add a carrier account number for each customer address. This allows you to have several carrier customer accounts for a single customer.

Note

  • The system uses the most-specific account configuration.
  • The address is more specific than the customer account.
  • If you have two records set for a customer, one with a delivery location and one without, the system uses the record with the delivery location for that customer each time.

Note

The customer can have more than one address but an address can't have more than one customer.

 Address Level

Address Level

Sales and marketing > Customers > All customers < select a customer account < select Advanced from the More Options drop-down list in the Address FastTab

Click the Carrier Customer Account button on the ribbon of the Manage addresses form to configure third-party account numbers for each shipping carrier.

Enter the third-party account number in the Carrier customer account number field to tell the system which account number to charge when shipping with the specified carrier.

You can only set up one one record per carrier at the address level. You cannot have two records with the same delivery location.

You can set up a third-party account for each available carrier.

Note

The customer can have more than one address but an address can't have more than one customer.

Sales Order

You can view and/or edit the Carrier customer account number in two places on the Sales order details form:

  • Sales order header section in Lines view
  • Transportation section in the Header view

  • No labels
