Device Server Upgrade
This document is for upgrading Supply Chain Cloud Device Server from Version 1 to Version 2.
It provides instructions for copying the current settings file, uninstalling Version 1, installing Version 2, and restoring the settings file to maintain configuration.
The process should first be performed by an Administrator account.
After completion, non-admin users need only perform the uninstallation detailed in Step 2 and re-installation detailed in Step 3.
Make sure the Device Server application is closed before upgrading.
Step 1 (Admin Only)| Copy Settings File to Safe Location
Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Blue Horseshoe Solutions, Inc\The Supply Chain Cloud Device Server.
ProgramData is a hidden folder that is not visible by default.
To view the hidden folder, open File Explorer and go to the View tab and Options.
In the Folder Options window, click the View tab and select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and
click OK.
Locate the settings file and copy it to a safe location.
After the settings file has been stored, delete the The Supply Chain Cloud Device Server folder located in C:/ProgramData/Blue Horseshoe Solutions, Inc.
Step 2| Uninstall Device Server Version 1
Hold the Windows key and press R to open the Run window.
Type “appwiz.cpl” and click OK.
In the Programs and Features window, select The Supply Chain Cloud Device Server in the list and then click Uninstall/Change.
If a warning appears about other users logged into the system, select Continue.
In the window that opens, verify that Remove the application from this computer is selected
and click OK.
Step 3| Install Device Server Version 2
Locate the setup file for Device Server Version 2 and run.

In the Application Installation window, select Install.
Step 4 (Admin Only)| Restore Settings File
As the Device Server installation automatically runs, be sure to close it by clicking the X at the top-right of the window and selecting Yes on the close prompt.
Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Blue Horseshoe Solutions, Inc\The Supply Chain Cloud Device Server.
Move the settings file stored in Step 1 to the folder, being sure to replace the existing file.
