Custom Carriers

The Custom Carriers page allows you to create or edit custom carriers.

New or Edit Custom Carrier

Click New to create a custom carrier. Click Edit to edit a carrier.

This opens a pop-up window where you can enter the following details:


FIELD

DESCRIPTION

Name

Enter a carrier name.

Rate Engine

Select a rate engine:

  • General LTL Rate Service
  • Deficit LTL Rate Service
  • Custom Service
  • SMC3 CzarLite Web Service

Note

Select the Custom Service option to build your own carrier integration to allow that data to flow through Supply Chain Cloud.

Generate PRO Number

Turn on this toggle to enable PRO number generation for LTL shipping.

A PRO number is used to track LTL shipment progress. Supply Chain Cloud assigns a number from the number range allocated by the carrier.

Note

If a shipment has multiple pallets, there may be multiple PRO numbers to generate.

Important

Most carriers have a range of PRO numbers assigned to their account. Contact your carrier for this numbered range.

PRO Number Sequence
Check Digit

Select the check digit that matches the carrier requirements:

  • Mod7

  • Mod10

PrefixEnter a prefix if required by the carrier.
Start SequenceSelect the first assigned number of the sequence.
End SequenceSelect the last assigned number of the sequence.
Threshold Sequence

Select a threshold for the sequence.

This number drives alert logic for when you need to contact the carrier to assign another PRO number range to your account.

Example

If the sequence is 1000-9999 and you want to know 100 shipments before you hit your limit, the threshold sequence is 9899.

Length

Select the length of the sequence according to carrier specifications. Default is 8.

Important

This length does include the prefix or the check digit at the end of the PRO number.

Weighing Factor

Select the weighing factor to apply to Mod10 check digit calculations.

Note

This field is only enabled for Mod10 check digits. 

Address
AddressEnter the carrier address.
Contact Information
New

Click this button to add a line to the section and enter carrier contact information:

  • Contact Name: Enter the contact name.
  • Phone Number: Enter the contact phone number.
  • Email: Enter the contact email address.
  • Default Phone: Indicates if this is the default phone number for the carrier.
  • Default Email: Indicates if this is the default email address for the carrier.
Make Phone DefaultSelect a contact line and click this button to set the default carrier phone number.
Make Email DefaultSelect a contact line and click this button to set the default carrier email address.

 Manage Carrier Services

Manage Carrier Services

Click Manage Carrier Services on a carrier line to configure services for your custom carrier.

You should see the selected carrier at the top of the page, along with several buttons.

Create or Edit Carrier Service

Click New to create a carrier service. Click Edit to edit a carrier service.

This opens a pop-up window where you can enter the following details:

 Manage Rate Masters

Manage Rate Masters

Click Manage Rate Masters on a carrier line to assign a rate master to your custom carrier.

Rate Master Assignments

You should see the selected carrier at the top of the page, along with several buttons.

Create or Edit Carrier Rate Master Assignment

Click New to create a carrier rate master assignment. Click Edit to edit a rate master assignment.

Select a rate master and configure a time frame for this assignment. Click Save.

Now, when you do a rate shop into the system for your custom carrier, the system will run the logic to do the general rating, then find the break and return a valid rate based on your rate base structure.

 Manage Custom Engine

Manage Custom Engine

Click Manage Custom Engine on a carrier line to integrate a custom carrier with Supply Chain Cloud.

Custom Engine Configuration

You should see the selected carrier at the top of the page, along with a couple fields.

Fill in these fields to build your own carrier integration and allow that data to flow through Supply Chain Cloud.

  • Function URL: The endpoint URL for the custom carrier.

  • Function Header Key: The Azure function API key for the custom carrier.

 Edit Credentials

Edit Credentials

Click Edit Credentials on a CzarLite rate engine record.


Create or edit the credentials you received from SMC3 for a CzarLite rate engine.

 Manage Tariffs

Manage Tariffs

Click Manage Tariffs on your CzarLite record to assign tariffs to your carrier.

Carrier Tariff Assignments

You should see the selected carrier at the top of the page, along with several buttons.

Create or Edit Carrier Tariff Assignment

Click New to create a carrier tariff assignment. Click Edit to edit a tariff assignment.

Select a tariff. This list is populated with tariffs that you have access to through an agreement with SMC3.

Configure a time frame for this assignment.

Click Save.

 Manage Accessorials

Manage Accessorials

Click Manage Accessorials on a carrier line to configure internal accessorial rates and fees for your custom carrier.

Note

Supply Chain Cloud does not currently support carrier accessorials with CzarLite.


You should see the selected carrier at the top of the page, along with several buttons.

Create or Edit Carrier Accessorial Assignment

Click New to create a carrier accessorial assignment. Click Edit to edit a carrier accessorial assignment.

This opens a pop-up window where you can enter the following details:

NameThe accessorial name.
DescriptionA detailed description of the accessorial.
Origin Postal CodeThe origin postal code.

Enabled

Turn on this toggle to enable the accessorial fee on the Pack Station.
Accessorial Application Level

Select which part of the freight the accessorial charge is applied to:

  • Container
  • Shipment
Accessorial Fee Type

Select the accessorial fee type:

  • Flat: Apply a flat fee.

  • Per Unit: Calculate the fee on a per-unit basis.

  • Percentage: Calculate the fee as a percentage of the accessorial UOM.

Your selection determines which fields appear in the Calculation Details section below.

Destination Postal Code StartThe start and end of the destination postal code range.

These should create a range of postal codes (e.g., "Start" is 46000 and "End" is 46500 so any postal code between 46000 and 46500 applies).

Calculation Details - Flat

FIELDDESCRIPTION
Currency Code

Select the currency code.

Accessorial FeeSelect the value to apply as the flat fee.

Calculation Details - Per Unit

Currency CodeSelect the currency code.
Accessorial FeeSelect the value to multiply against the accessorial unit to calculate the fee.
Minimum Charge

Select the lowest possible rate that can be charged.

If the percentage calculation rate falls below this value, the minimum charge value is used as the accessorial charge.

Maximum Charge

Select the highest possible rate that can be charged.

If the percentage calculation rate falls above this value, the maximum charge value is used as the accessorial charge.

Accessorial Unit

Select a unit:

  • Rate: The rate calculated from the rate table.
  • Unit: The amount of items in the shipment or container(s).
  • Value: The currency of the shipment or container(s).
  • Weight: The weight of the shipment or container(s).

Note

The Unit, Value, and Weight defer to your selection for the Accessorial Application Level field.

Accessorial Unit Divisor

Select the value to be used as a divisor for your selected accessorial unit. It must be larger than 0.

This value defaults to 1 if not set.

Example

Accessorial Rate = (Unit / Unit Divisor) * Fee

  • Accessorial Unit Divisor: 5
  • Accessorial Unit: 500 iPhones 
  • Accessorial Fee: $1

The total accessorial charge is $100. 

Calculation Details - Percentage

FIELDDESCRIPTION
Currency CodeSelect the currency code.
Percentage

Select a value between 1 and 100 to multiply against the accessorial unit to calculate the fee.

A maximum of one decimal place is allowed (e.g., 3.2%).

Minimum Charge

Select the lowest possible rate that can be charged.

If the percentage calculation rate falls below this value, the minimum charge value is used as the accessorial charge.

Maximum Charge

Select the highest possible rate that can be charged.

If the percentage calculation rate falls above this value, the maximum charge value is used as the accessorial charge.

Accessorial Unit

Select a unit:

  • Rate: The rate calculated from the rate table.
  • Unit: The amount of items in the shipment or container(s).
  • Value: The currency of the shipment or container(s).
  • Weight: The weight of the shipment or container(s).

Note

The Unit, Value, and Weight defer to your selection for the Accessorial Application Level field.

Delete Custom Carrier

Select the desired record and click Delete to delete a carrier.

Click OK on the confirmation pop-up window to confirm the deletion.

Copy Custom Carrier

Select the desired carrier and click Copy.

A duplicate is created with a timestamp appended to the end of the name. You can adjust the name and description on the copy.

Copying is useful if multiple (but similar) carriers are needed.
