Handling Unit Consolidation

Overview

When using the Warehouse and Transportation Management Integration, consolidation logic is initiated when work is completed to the final putaway location.

Note

This logic only applies to handling units that are on the same work header.

Process

When two or more handling units are on the same work header and share the same source order:

  1. SCC captures general information from the first handling unit. This information is used on the consolidated handling unit (e.g., object type, operation, shipment table, etc).

  2. For the following handling units:

    • SCC checks if they have the same item information as the previous handling units. SCC nulls fields that do not match (e.g., itemId or UOM).
    • SCC then increments captured weight and volume for the consolidated handling unit.
    • SCC then reduces the original handling unit quantity based on the work quantity. If the work quantity is the same as the first handling unit, SCC deletes the handling unit.
  3. Once SCC has gone through all handling units for the work, it creates a consolidated handling unit based on the data captured off the original handling units.

  4. SCC adds a relation from the consolidated handling unit to each logistics line that the original handling units were related to.
