Container Types
During the packing process, container types designate the box or pallet being packed into.
The Container Types page allows you to create or edit container types. Most of the fields are required due to carrier data requirements.
New or Edit Container Type
Click New to create a container type. Click Edit to edit a container type.
This opens a pop-up window where you can enter the following details:

Name | The container type name. |
Description | A detailed container type description. |
Packaging Type | Select the packaging type:

External Code | The carrier's code for the container type being used. Note

Default Container Label Override | Select the label you wish to tie to the container. The available labels are defined by the selected packaging type and are configured on the Container Labels page. You can then view any labels tied to a shipment and/or container on the Shipment Summary. |
No Label | Turn on this toggle if you do not wish to use a label from the Container Labels page. |
HazMat Packaging Type | Enter the hazardous materials packaging type. See Hazardous Materials for a list of valid packaging types. |
Container Dimensions | |
Length/Width/Height | The outside dimensions of the container type. |
Dimension UOM | The unit of measure to use when specifying dimensions for this container type. |
Weight Attributes | |
Maximum Gross Weight | The maximum weight allowed to pack into an individual container type. |
Tare Weight | The weight of the actual box. This is used to generate a more accurate system-estimated weight during packing. |
Weight UOM | The unit of measure to use when specifying weight for this container type. |
Delete Container Type
Select the desired record and click Delete to delete a container type.
Click OK on the confirmation pop-up window to confirm the deletion.
Copy Container Type
Select the desired container type and click Copy.
A duplicate is created with a timestamp appended to the end of the name. You can adjust the name and description on the copy.
Copying is useful if multiple (but similar) container types are needed.
Make Default
Select the desired record and click Make Rate Shop Container to mark it as the default rate shop container type.
Rate shop containers are theoretical containers that are generated when rate shopping without actual packed containers.
Import/Export Container Type
Click Import and select your file(s) to import a container type.
Select a record and click Export to export a container type.
Click Export All to export all displayed records.
