Pre-Allocations

Pre-Allocations

The Pre-Allocations configuration page allows you to create and manage item pre-allocations.

Pre-allocations go a step further than safety nets; they allocate inventory to anticipate demand. You can set aside available inventory for customers/customer groups even when no demand exists.

Sustainability: Stabilize Inventory

Mitigate risk around urgent orders by keeping inventory on-hand instead of expediting to fulfill requests for customers.

See Sustainability with Supply Chain Cloud for more information.

When demand lines are submitted requesting a pre-allocated item, the quantity will only be fulfilled to the point where the remaining pre-allocated amount is still available.

In this manner, inventory is “soft locked” for those demand lines whose attributes qualify for the inventory.

New or Edit Pre-Allocation

Click New to create a pre-allocation. Click Edit to edit an existing pre-allocation.

FIELDDESCRIPTION

Important

You can only configure either Attribute or Customer, not both.

Attribute

Enter the attribute for pre-allocation.

Attributes allow you to group customers by specific characteristics.

If a demand line has an attribute matching the attribute selected here, that demand line can consume the pre-allocated inventory.

Important

You can only configure either Attribute or Customer, not both.

Quantity

Select the amount of inventory to “soft lock” for the item.

This locked inventory cannot be allocated unless the demand line matches the attributes configured above.

Consumed Quantity

Select the amount of inventory consumed by the pre-allocation group for the pre-allocated item across the configured time frame.

  • If the consumed quantity is greater than zero, the amount of inventory that must be “soft locked” is calculated by subtracting the consumed quantity from the pre-allocated quantity.
  • This quantity increments by the quantity the demand line is fulfilled by when a submitted demand line matches the attribute configuration.

Delete Pre-Allocation

Select the desired record and click Delete to delete a pre-allocation.

Click OK on the confirmation pop-up window to confirm the deletion.
